Finding Joy in the Journey: My Miraval Retreat Experience
Sometimes, life moves so fast that we forget to slow down and listen to ourselves. Recently, I had the opportunity to step away from the daily hustle and retreat to the serene Miraval Resort in Tucson, Arizona, for the Joy in the Journey retreat. Facilitated by Heather Joy Hubbard. It was more than just a getaway—it was a powerful journey of self-reflection, meditation, and rediscovery.
One of the most impactful parts of the retreat was the space it gave me to reflect. Away from the noise of emails, social media, and everyday distractions, I found myself tuning into thoughts and feelings I hadn't fully processed. Journaling became my go-to outlet, and with each page filled, I uncovered insights about myself that I hadn't acknowledged in a long time. It was both challenging and liberating to confront those emotions, but it left me feeling lighter and more self-aware.
Meditation and mindfulness played a huge role in my experience. Guided sessions helped me quite my mind and become more present. Whether I was walking the labyrinth in peaceful contemplation or practicing breathwork, I felt a sense of grounding that I didn't realize I had been missing. The stillness reminded me of the power of simply being—without judgment, expectation, or urgency.
Through reflection and mindfulness, I found myself reconnecting with the parts of me that had been overshadowed by daily obligations. I rediscovered my creativity, my sense of calm, and my inner strength. Taking time to be still helped me gain clarity on my goals, my passions, and the type of energy I will bring into my life moving forward.
Another highlight of the retreat was the amazing group of women I had the pleasure of meeting. Each one had her own story, and they shared their experiences with vulnerability and courage. From heartfelt conversations to shared laughter over meals, I was left feeling inspired and motivated. Their strength, resilience, and authenticity reminded me of the power of community and connection. I miss them already. :)
As I return to my daily routine, I carry these lessons with me. The retreat reminded me that self-care isn't selfish; it's essential. Taking time to reflect, meditate, and reconnect with yourself can create a ripple effect that improves every part of your life. I'm deeply grateful for the experience and the incredible people I met along the way.
If you're feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, I encourage you to pause, breathe, and find your own way to retreat—even if it's just for a few quiet moments in your day. Joy truly is found in the journey.
A huge thank you to Heather Joy Hubbard for facilitating Joy In the Journey - THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I am forever grateful.
