Throwing it back to 2016, a year that marked one of my most cherished photography projects: capturing young girls as the true princesses they are. It was a labor of love, driven by my desire to celebrate their natural beauty, essence, and undeniable magic. Each portrait was designed serve as a visual affirmation of their worth.
The vision for this project was clear—to strip away societal expectations and celebrate the beauty that radiates from within. These young girls were adorned in stunning gowns and elegant accessories, styled to enhance by me. Their hair was natural and adorned with crowns or flowers. As I directed the sessions I requested no forced smiles. Just relaxed and serene. Although with such fun going on ... sometime a smile is hard to resist! The result? A gallery of portraits that exuded authenticity, grace, and power.
For me, the heart of this project lay in the smiles, the quiet confidence, and the light in each girl’s eyes. It was about showcasing their pure essence before the world had a chance to tell them who or what they should be. Each image is a statement: You are enough, just as you are.
As I reflect, I find myself wondering: Is it time to bring this project back? The world continues to impose unrealistic standards of beauty on young girls, and now more than ever, they need to be reminded of their inherent value. They deserve to see themselves reflected as the royalty they are, to embrace their natural beauty, and to carry that confidence forward into their futures.
So, what do you think? Should we revisit this celebration of young girls and their special beauty? Leave a comment with your thoughts. Also, share this post with anyone you think would benefit.
Stay tuned for updates on this potential revival!
