Nothing like a love story
“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” ` Wuthering Heights I love that quote. Mainly because I think I'm a romantic at heart. I believe in a true love story. Thankfully, love stories lead to weddings.
When I started shooting weddings back in 2004, I was starting an adventure that I knew would bring me a lot of enjoyment. The first official wedding that I photographed presented some of the biggest challenges a photographer can face. It was a late October evening wedding. Yes... October ... evening ... indoors with no windows. I think my heart just fell a little while typing that :). But I was so excited about capturing that wedding that the challenges were upstaged by adrenaline. Plus, never having shot a wedding before ... I didn't know that I was going to be facing darkness. Literal darkness ... LOL. Good thing I had my FLASH :) If there are any photographers reading this then you already know where I'm going with this. You see flash is not the most flattering thing. It really needs to be done correctly if used at all. Oh yeah and I was shooting film. (gulp!) Let's just say that God was on my side ... as He always is. The photos were quite decent given the circumstances. Oh and let me not forget to mention that the ceremony was officiated by an Elvis impersonator. Yes, Elvis was in the building!
I have photographed way too many weddings to count since that first October wedding way back in the day. I've learned so much. Changed how I run my business. Moved from a business partnership to flying solo. I've met the most amazing people and made some great friends. What I'm most happy about is that I'm still in love with wedding photography. Through all the ups and downs of running a photography studio, I still find excitement for creating beautiful images.
I'm a photographer and visual storyteller of people ... but my heart lies with weddings. I photograph weddings because I love "love". I photograph weddings because a wedding day is full of joy, excitement and of course ... LOVE ❤️ I photograph weddings because I get to document the moment that two people join their hearts to take the journey through life together. Its always an honor when couples trust my creative vision to tell the story of their wedding day. Here's to all the love stories I have yet to tell.
With Love & Light,
